To find out which operating system version you are using, please follow the steps below.
Windows XP
Windows Vista and Windows 7
Mac OS X
Windows XP
Click the Start button, right-click My Computer, then click Properties. Note: Your My Computer icon may also be located on your desktop. The window presented will display your operating system version.
- If x64 Edition is listed under System, you're running the 64-bit version of Windows XP.
- If you don't see x64 Edition listed under System, you're running the 32-bit version of Windows XP.
Windows Vista and Windows 7
Click the Start button, right-click Computer, then click Properties. Note: Your Computer icon may also be located on your desktop. The window presented will display your operating system version.
- If 32-bit Operating System is listed next to System type, you're running the 32-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7.
- If 64-bit Operating System is listed next to System type, you're running the 64-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Mac OS X
Select the menu, then About this Mac. The window presented will display your Mac OS X version.
Mac OS X Version Names:
Mac OS X 10.8 = Mountain Lion
Mac OS X 10.7 = Lion
Mac OS X 10.6 = Snow Leopard
Mac OS X 10.5 = Leopard
Mac OS X 10.4 = Tiger
Mac OS X 10.3 = Panther
Mac OS X 10.2 = Jaguar
