X12 - Good Projector
Good projector.
ECO made is bright enough for smaller rooms and overcomes ambient light well. Very quiet as well. I usually need a quiet unit and going back and forth to dim lights isn't necessary.
Full power is good for larger rooms where noise isn't as critical.
I'm a road warrior so quick setup was critical.
Since what I do is very visual with video cameras and use of recorded video. I need a fair amount of light in the room for camera use. This handles the situation well.
I was concerned about using a remote video broadcast unit due to possible conflicts...but this handles it well without conflicts.
It was a little friggy getting the aspect ratios matched between camera generated video and the 4:3 aspect ratio on the projector but nothing major. In fact there are no major problems with this projector.
USB takes over audio and needs to be unplugged and then plugged in again if I'm using external speakers or I can change the default to external speakers which I haven't bothered with. It would be good to have some auto selection for this function. Tech support helped me with this problem and were quick to do so.
The remote is far more useful than my previous one with separate buttons to flip between sources. Most of what you need is there. The remote does not have a laser pointer though which would be useful. The on board mouse pointer is very rudimentary and I find it awkward. I hook up an external mouse with the functions I need or carry a separate laser when the situation calls for it.
At around 5 pounds, it travels fairly well.
Has HDMI so I'm rewriting some presentations for my tablet... haven't tried it yet though.
The travel case is a little light as far as protection goes but it seems to do the job as far as minor jolts go. Haven;t dropped it yet.
You can get smaller units, more powerful projectors etc but for my on the road purposes, this is a good middle of the road solution with a relatively small footprint and at a low price point.

PowerLite X12
I've been looking for a nice portable projector for some time. I do PowerPoint talks to various groups and always have to ensure that they have a projector available. Some have been good, some have been terrible. So, for peace of mind, I wanted my own projector that I could count on.
The X12 is an excellent projector - good resolution for my talks (lots of maps), bright and sharp. Colour rendition is excellent.
Although packed with features I've found it very easy to use. The horizontal keystone slider is very handy for when you can't exactly align the projector with the screen (faster and easier than using a menu system). The USB slide show feature is handy for when you don't want to have to lug a computer to a presentation. I generally use it with a laptop, but bring a USB key with my presentation slides as a backup in case something goes wonky with the computer.
